When it comes to leadership, the hardest person you’ll ever lead is yourself. Developing self-awareness is key in this journey.
We’ve all seen leaders who lack self-awareness. They’re quick to react, unaware of how their words land, and blind to their own patterns. The result? Confusion, frustration, and teams that feel more managed than inspired.
The truth is simple: you can’t lead others well if you don’t understand yourself first!
That’s why self-awareness is a leader’s greatest superpower. It’s not about navel-gazing – it’s about clarity. When you understand your tendencies, triggers, and strengths, you can choose how you show up. That choice is what builds trust and influence.
One of my favorite tools for this is Know Yourself to Lead Yourself.
It’s a simple framework:
- Tendencies → shape your Patterns
- Patterns → drive your Actions
- Actions → have Consequences (positive & negative)
- Consequences → reinforce your Reality

When you slow down and examine this loop, you begin to recognize where you get stuck, as well as where you can intentionally grow.
👉 This week’s Empowerment Challenge
Before you step into your next meeting, take two minutes to ask: “What am I bringing into this room: energy, assumptions, mindset?” The mirror moment can change everything.
Because when you lead yourself with clarity, you multiply your influence with others.
Keep leading empowered!
