December will be here very soon. And there’s something about stepping into that month that naturally slows me down. Maybe it’s the shorter days, maybe it’s the year-end energy… or maybe it’s the fact that this week I started recording my December episodes of Lead Empowered TV, and I’ve become more intentional with the questions I’m asking. Either way, I find myself paying closer attention – listening more deeply, and noticing the things I’m usually too busy to see.

Every time I converse with my guests, I’m reminded that real leadership isn’t about having answers at the ready. It’s about the posture you bring into the conversation. Curiosity. Presence. The willingness to sit in the tension long enough for clarity to surface. When filming episodes for Lead Empowered TV, it pushes me right back into that mindset.

And honestly? I think that’s something a lot of leaders need this time of year.

We race through the end of the year trying to wrap everything up with a bow. But the truth is, the quality of our decisions is directly tied to the quality of our questions. If we’re moving too quickly to ask thoughtful ones, we’re probably building next year on shaky assumptions.

So as I prep to sit down with more guests in the weeks ahead – each with their own experiences, blind spots, revelations, and wisdom – I’m taking that posture into the rest of my work and life. Slow down. Listen. Ask the next honest question. Let the conversation shape you.

If you’re heading into the weekend with a full mind, maybe try adopting that same stance. Get curious. Be present. Notice what’s actually going on beneath the surface as if you were about to share on Lead Empowered TV.

You might be surprised by what clarity shows up.

Reflection Question: What conversation in your life is inviting you to slow down and ask a better question?

P.S. If you’re a leader with a story, insight, or hard-earned lesson that could help others lead with more intention, I’d love to hear from you.
