The calendar just flipped, and it’s tempting to reach for whatever feels easiest – the familiar rhythms, the comfortable conversations, the predictable calendar. Convenience is sneaky like that. It convinces us we’re “managing life,” when really, we may just be avoiding the edges where courageous leadership and growth wait.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot heading into 2026.
Courage doesn’t usually show up as dramatic leaps. More often, it looks like the small, inconvenient choices we’d rather skip: initiating the tough conversation, saying no when people expect yes, asking for feedback we may not love, or finally telling the truth about what’s not working.
Those moments feel awkward. Sometimes they sting. But they also create clarity and clarity is fuel.
This week, try this simple reflection:
- Where have I chosen comfort over honesty?
- What am I tolerating that quietly drains my energy?
- What is one courageous step I can take in the next seven days?
My opinion? Convenience keeps life smooth. Courage makes for a meaningful life.
And as we step into a brand-new year, I’d rather chase meaning.
Here’s to choosing the harder path when it matters and discovering who we become because of it.
Best wishes in 2026!
