It’s easy to end the week looking at a checklist. But true growth comes from focusing on people development and how we nurture talent beyond tasks.

Projects completed.
Meetings attended.
Problems solved.

But leadership isn’t ultimately measured by what you get done: it’s measured by who you build up.

Here’s the hard truth:

You can hit every target and still fall short as a leader if no one around you is growing.

So pause for a moment and ask yourself:

Who is better today because of my commitment to people development this week?

Did you:

  • Coach someone through a challenge instead of solving it for them?
  • Give meaningful feedback that helped someone improve?
  • Create space for someone to step up, even if it slowed things down?
  • Encourage someone who needed confidence more than correction?

Or…

Did you move quickly, fix things yourself, and unintentionally train your team to rely on you instead of growing without you?

Great leaders don’t just produce results. They produce people who can produce results.

That requires intentionality.

It often looks like:

  • Slowing down when it would be easier to speed up
  • Asking questions instead of giving answers
  • Letting someone struggle just enough to learn
  • Seeing potential AND calling it out consistently

Because development doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a leader chooses people over convenience.

As you reflect today, don’t rush past this.

Think of one person.

Did they grow because of you this week?

If the answer is yes, lean into that. Do more of it.

If the answer is no – good. That awareness is where better leadership begins.

Next week is another opportunity.

Lead in a way that leaves people stronger, more confident, and more capable than you found them.

That’s the kind of impact that lasts.
